Elvis Photos — Gallery #9
In Kalama, Washington, 1962
The following Elvis photos were taken the evening of September 4, 1962. Earlier that morning Elvis had pulled his super-size Dodge RV into the parking lot of the Columbia Inn Motel in the small town of Kalama, Washington, about 35 miles north of Portland, Oregon. Accompanied by a nine-man entourage, Elvis had left Los Angeles the previous morning bound for Seattle, where location shooting for his movie, It Happened At the World's Fair, was to take place. While Elvis slept through the day, word spread of his presence in Kalama, and a small crowd gathered in the motel parking lot. After Elvis emerged from his room that evening he spent about 45 minutes chatting with fans, signing autographs, and posing for pictures before continuing his drive to Seattle. Below are four photos taken of Elvis that evening. If you would like to purchase 8" X 10" prints of any of these photos, click on the link below. These prints are made from high resolution scans made from the original prints still on display in the lobby of the Kalama River Inn (formerly the Columbia Inn Motel). Of course, the prints will not have watermarks on them like the preview images below. — Alan Hanson
